The thrilling journey of the Junior World Rally Championship in its inaugural season has come to an end with the Rally Romania delivering an exhilarating finale. Simon Black from Australia emerged as the surprise champion, snatching victory from the grasp of Polish driver Michal Idzikowski in a dramatic turn of events.

Throughout the season, the junior drivers showcased their skills and determination, conquering a total of 548.1 kilometers of challenging rally stages across seven gripping stages. The competition was intense, filled with moments of triumph and heartache.

Simon Black's victory was an unexpected triumph. The championship leader, Michal Idzikowski from Poland, seemed poised to claim the title with a strong finish. However, fate had a different plan in store. On the final section of the rally, Idzikowski encountered an unfortunate accident, forcing him to enter the super rally and allowing Black to secure the championship by a mere five points.
